Meat prices will be even more pressured with war, says expert

With the result of the war in Ukraine, the uncertainties in the face of the conflict already affect several markets with the rise in prices, including agribusiness.

in interview to CNN Brazil this Monday (7), the CEO of Agrifatto, Lygia Pimentel, said that the scenario should make the price of meat continue to be very pressured, even more than before.

“The increase is projected to be lower for beef and higher for chicken and pork, which are more dependent on grains. These meats are more dependent on corn than the beef itself,” he said.

According to her, the impacts on the price of corn, a grain used for animal feed, can already be felt in the market.

“This inflationary scenario ends up contaminating everything that is cost of production, including in the industry and in other sectors, but it comes with the impacts immediately”, he informed.

“Whoever wants to buy corn today has already felt the rise in corn on the spot market, the spot market, and whoever wants to trade in futures markets also feels the rise in these costs,” he added.
