The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, through the Consumer Delegation (Decon), identified one of the slaughterhouses that purchased meat unfit for consumption from the Rio Grande do Sul company being investigated for making up food that was submerged during the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, in May last year.
A meat wholesaler, located in Contagem (MG), purchased 15 tons of spoiled food according to the Wellington Pereira Vieira, delegate Decon at the forefront of the investigationin an interview with CNN .
The investigation seeks to identify other companies that may have been harmed by the sale of rotting food. “The meat didn’t even arrive here in Rio de Janeiro. It has already been transported to several other buyers who did not know its origin, 32 trucks that left the South for various destinations in Brazil”, said the delegate.
According to him, the police are trying to locate the companies that were possibly injured, said the delegate.

Four people were arrested this Wednesday (22) in an operation by the Rio Civil Police against a company that sold meat unfit for consumption .
Civil police officers from Decon carried out eight search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to those investigated in Três Rios, a municipality in the Central-South region of Rio de Janeiro.
The operation took place in conjunction with the Consumer Police of Rio Grande do Sul, which had been investigating the situation since May last year.
Partners of the establishment acquired 800 tons of spoiled beef (prime cuts) which was submerged in the floods that hit Porto Alegre (RS).
“That deterioration caused by the mud and water, which accumulated in the refrigerator and throughout the city of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, left some deleterious effects. These effects were removed, as I said, with makeup, for resale”, stated the delegate Wellington Pereira Vieira.
The company claimed that the intention of the purchase was to manufacture animal feed.
