According to Axios, Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for US President, may choose Senator Gary Peters, who is staunchly opposed to cryptocurrencies, as her next vice president.

Kamala Harris and her campaign are considering Gary Peters as a candidate, according to Axios, and are open to the views of labor unions who believe the Michigan senator could strengthen Harris’s hand in the upcoming election. Peters is currently trying to drum up support from fellow Democrats for a potential vice presidential run.

The political advocacy group Stand With Crypto noted that Peters has a radical stance and is “vehemently opposed to cryptocurrencies.” In particular, the senator co-sponsored the Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act (DAAMLA) bill introduced by crypto-anti-cryptocurrency Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Earlier, sources told the Financial Times that members of Kamala Harris’ campaign team had contacted major representatives of the crypto industry and outlined the Democratic Party’s intention to establish a positive dialogue with digital finance market participants and demonstrate a willingness to cooperate.
