“Hong Kong police have asked for help from Interpol and foreign cryptocurrency exchanges and platforms. Law enforcement agencies are asking for help to intercept and freeze assets stolen by criminals. The financial scam became the largest in the history of the city,” the publication’s sources say.
Journalists note that some of the stolen cryptocurrencies have already been frozen, but their amount has not yet been reported. Work to find the remaining assets continues. A special group of police officers has been assigned to monitor the movement of cryptocurrencies.
It was recently reported that cryptocurrency blogger Joseph Lam was arrested in Hong Kong, suspected of being in connection with the JPEX exchange.
