Media: PayPal plans to buy a cryptocurrency storage service

Payment company PayPal is preparing to purchase Curv cryptocurrency storage service. Writes about this CoinDesk citing sources. On Tuesday, Israeli newspaper Calcalist reported that Curv was valued at between $ 200 million and $ 300 million, without specifying a potential buyer.

“PayPal is buying Curv for $ 500 million,” a source from the custodian services space told CoinDesk. “Considering where this information came from, I am quite convinced of its reliability.”

Industry participants reported that PayPal became interested in Curv after the collapse of negotiations to buy the BitGo service late last year. According to sources, PayPal was then ready to give $ 750 million in money.

“PayPal has had great acquisitions in the past like Vemno. Now they want something related to cryptocurrencies, ”the source said.

Curv has raised over $ 30 million since its inception, of which $ 23 million last July.

PayPal added support for cryptocurrency services late last year, however customers are unable to withdraw or deposit digital assets. Today it also became known about the addition of deposits with PayPal on the FTX exchange.
