The Washington Post reported this with reference to its sources. Reporters for the publication said that during the preliminary vote, the Pentagon and the Department of Energy expressed their desire to add Honor to the list of banned organizations, while the State Department and the Department of Commerce do not consider this an urgent need. And if in the near future government departments do not come to a common denominator, then the final decision will have to be made by Joe Biden, the President of the United States. And if Honor is still included in the aforementioned list, then it will be a significant blow for the company.
However, so far there is no reliable and understandable information about why the US authorities decided to add Honor to the list of banned organizations. The fact is that at the moment the manufacturer is really not affiliated with Huawei (as they say in the company itself), and the brand does not have a division that is responsible for 5G network equipment. And, most importantly, Honor products are not represented in the US market, so they do not pose any threat to the country. Most likely, the world will know the final answer to this situation in the very near future.
