A medical student was arrested red-handed after running over and killing his own mother, in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro. The case happened last Monday night (28). According to authorities, at the time, the young man was under the influence of drugs and drunk.
According to the Rio de Janeiro Military Police, officers from the corporation were called to respond to a fatal traffic accident in the Parque Vicente Gonçalves Dias neighborhood. Upon arriving at the scene, the police confirmed the fact and the involvement of two vehicles in the accident.
According to the 146th Police District – Guarus, where the case was registered, after running over the victim, the student also collided the vehicle he was driving with another car.
According to the civil police, after analyzing the security cameras that recorded the author’s car passing by, it was confirmed that he was driving at high speed when he ran over his mother.
According to authorities, the boy has a history of crimes, including the illegal practice of medicine. As a student, he would have posed as a doctor who had already graduated from a hospital in the city where he lives. The suspect also has a record of domestic violence against his mother.
After the incident, people close to the family were interviewed at the police station and reported to the authorities that the suspect and his mother already had a history of disagreements. The woman would also be responsible for paying for the boy’s studies.
Initially, the boy was charged with manslaughter, for being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, but later the classification of the crime was changed. In a statement, the state Civil Police informed that he will be charged with feminicide.
Investigations remain ongoing at the 146th DP to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
