The Santa Catarina Civil Police (PCSC) seized a young man after forging his own kidnapping to pay a debt in electronic games on Thursday (10).
According to PCSC, the suspect is identified as a student of the medical course at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
According to initial information, the young man was being held hostage by robbers in Nova Venice, who required the amount of $ 40,000 to release him.
The investigations located the student in the city of Araranguá, driving his own vehicle. When approached by civil police, the young man admitted the scam and claimed that he had debts on an electronic game platform.
The suspect would have contacted his sister asking for the amount of the alleged redemption, which eventually transferred the amount of $ 5,000 to his brother’s account.
The perpetrator was arrested in the act for the crime of extortion, and then sent to the Araranguá Regional Prison.
