Students enrolled in the open semester of Medicine and Surgery. Included also the courses of veterinary and dentistry were 64,825 the people who had completed the registration phase at the universities for the open semester, of these in 54,313 they had chosen medicine and surgery according to the data at the end of July of the Ministry of the University. The latest data counting reduce of a few hundred members less, but always around 54 thousand with 70% of women. The places available are just over 24 thousand for aspiring doctors.
The subscribers
The highest number was recorded at the La Sapienza University of Rome with 4,810 members, followed by Federico II of Naples (3,140), Bologna (2,635), Padua (2,629) and Turin (2,321). The only half
Everyone starts the lessons on September 1st With the novelty of the Bernini reform: the semester open. The universities, with a problem linked to the spaces to host double the students of the other years, even if only for a semester, have prepared three common and mandatory teachings, in presence and online: Chemistry and propaedeutics biochemical, physics and biology.
Each subject will allow 6 training credits (CFU) for a total of 18. At the end of the open semester, each student will face the profit exams on the three teachings. The tests will be the same at national level and will take place simultaneously, on the same day.
Students will have two appeals available: the former will take place on November 20, 2025; The second on 10 December 2025. Each exam consists in the administration of 31 questions for each of the 3 open semester subjects: 15 multiple response with 5 response options, of which only one correct, and 16 to complete. For each test you will have 45 minutes available.
The scores achieved in the individual exams will be valid for the formation of the national ranking which will be published on January 12, 2026. The vote will be expressed in thirtieths with the possibility of praise. The minimum score to be able to access the national ranking must not be less than 18/30 in every single test. Students will therefore have to be promoted in every exam.
The ranking
From the January 13, 2026each aspiring doctor can enroll in the chosen degree course, at the first useful location, in the order of the preferences indicated, on the basis of the score obtained and the number of places available. Registration must be carried out by January 16, 2026. The possibility remains for the student to enroll and continue their studies in one of the similar courses chosen at the time of enrollment in the open semester.
Any places that, on the date of January 21, 2026should be unused will be made available for the enrollments of the students of EU countries and non -EU countries residing in Italy.
Students not admitted to the second half of the semester, who have obtained a vote not less than 18/30 in each exam, can continue during the Affine Course to which they must be previously enrolled with the recognition of all the ECTS. Registrations will be possible from 3 to 6 February 2026. Students who will not enroll within the terms will no longer have any possibilities. In case of non -registration, any available places will be used for subsequent registrations. From the February 12, 2026 At 5pm of February 16, 2026 Students who, based on the score obtained, are not enrolled at one of the university locations optional according to the preference order indicated at the time of enrollment, will be able to proceed with further choices of all the offices that have available residues. The registration can therefore be carried out, under penalty of forfeiture, starting from February 17th up to February 20, 2026.
