The British government today condemned former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s “threats” against the British newspaper The Times, which in its editorial described the killing of Russian lieutenant general Igor Kirillov as a “legitimate” act. Kirillov was killed outside the apartment building where he lived with his aide when a bomb planted on an electric skateboard exploded. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which accuses Kirillov of using chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers, which Moscow denies, claimed responsibility for the killing. The Kremlin accused Kiev of a “terrorist act” and Medvedev said the Ukrainian leadership would suffer retaliation for the killing.
