The company Aena, which will manage the Congonhas airport51% of its shares are controlled by the Spanish state-owned company Enaire and 49% are traded on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
The company already manages the terminals in Maceió, Recife, João Pessoa, Aracaju, Juazeiro do Norte and Campina Grande, awarded in the fifth concession round, in 2019.
In Spain, Aena is responsible for 48 airports, including Madrid and Barcelona. The company still has a shareholding in the Luton terminal, in England.
The state-owned majority shareholder in Aena also works in air traffic control in Spain.
In the first half of the year, 117.3 million passengers passed through the group’s airports, of which 32% were in Brazil.
According to the company, the 6.8 million travelers who passed through its terminals in the country in the period already represent 98% of the movement before the pandemic. It is the best recovery of the company.
In Brazil, revenue was BRL 473.6 million, and Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was BRL 218.1 million, up 144% over the same period in 2021.
