The Italian Clemente Del Vecchio just turned 19 and already has his name highlighted as the youngest billionaire in the world.
The young man inherited a fortune currently estimated at US$ 3.8 billion (about R$ 19 billion), according to data from the ranking of billionaires by Forbes, released on Monday (29).
Clemente is the youngest of six children of Leonardo Del Vecchio, who died at the age of 87 in June 2022 and was the founder of Luxottica, the largest eyewear brand in the world, responsible for manufacturing models such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Vogue and Giorgio Armani.
In 2018, Del Vecchio’s company merged with a French lens company to become the holding company EssilorLuxottica, which has an estimated market value of more than $80 billion.
With his father’s death, Clemente became the owner of a 12.5% ​​stake in Delfin, the holding company, which also owns shares in Italian banks Mediobanca and UniCredit, insurance company Generali and real estate developer Covivio.
The young billionaire appears at position 818 in the overall list of Forbes, while his brothers, Luca (21), Leonardo (27), Paola (61), Marisa (64) and Claudio (66), are in the same place on the list, too. with US$ 3.5 billion.
In 2022, the family patriarch was appointed by Forbes as the richest in Italy and the 62nd in the world with a fortune valued at US$ 27.3 billion, approximately R$ 138.5 billion.
