The singer Larry 31, was elected Composer of the Year in the 2024 edition of Young Brazilian Award (PJB ). This year’s ceremony took place at the Audio concert hall, located in the west of São Paulo, on September 25th.
The category won by the artist from Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, was decided by the award’s technical jury and the composer explained that she was happy to see her work being recognized with the award. She also highlighted the importance of honoring compositions made by women.
“Being recognized by the technical jury as composer of the year was one of the most special gifts in recent times and a reflection of a lot, a lot of work! I dedicate this award to all composers, especially female composers. Only we know how busy it is to be a woman in this market. There are sooooo many incredible composers who also deserved to be there on stage receiving this award”, he stated.
Lary already has more than 200 compositions and has written songs that have been recorded by a series of relevant names in national music, such as Thiaguinho, Gloria Groove, Ivete Sangalo, Leo Santana, Dilsinho, Baco Exu do Blues and Pedro Sampaio. She also signed five tracks from the album “Numanice 3”, by Ludmilla, and another six from the album “Aphrodite”, by Iza. The second was even nominated for this year’s Latin Grammy in the category of Best Contemporary Pop Album in the Portuguese Language.
“Our First Kiss” by Gloria Groove, “Fiu Fiu” by Iza and L7nnon and “Em Busca da Minha Sorte” by Thiaguinho and Billy SP were made by the artist from Rio de Janeiro.
In addition to her work as a songwriter, Lary also has a career as a singer. This year, she released the EPs “Com Amor, Lary – Pt. 1” and “Com Amor, Lary – Pt. 2”. Throughout her musical career, she has recorded with names such as Negra Li, Gustavo Mioto and Dennis.
