Meet the 16-year-old Brazilian singer nominated for a Latin Grammy

The singer Analu Sampaio 16, is one of the Brazilian artists nominated for the Latin Grammy 2024. The list was released by the Latin Recording Academy on September 17, last week.

The artist from Vitória da Conquista (BA) is one of the names of the new generation that represents Bossa Nova. She competes in the category of Best Engineered Recording Album with “Analu”, the first album of his career.

The project, launched in 2024, consists of 11 original tracks by the artist ranging from Samba and Bossa Nova to MPB and Jazz, with special appearances by Roberto Menescal, Nelson Faria and Affonsinho Heliodoro.

In the same category, the singers Mariana Nolasco (“Who Is She?”), Mobi Colombo (“Once Upon a Time”), Os Garotin (“The Garotins From São Gonçalo”) and Jota.Pê (“If My Chest Were the World”) are also nominated.

THE CNN, Analu Sampaio revealed how she felt having her first album nominated for a Latin Grammy and which Brazilian musical artists inspire her.

“It’s an honor for me… We made this album with a lot of care, commitment and love. I’m very happy to know that all the dedication put into this album has brought such special results,” he said.

“Artists like Djavan, Gil, Caetano, João Gilberto, greatly influenced my way of seeing musicality in this project”, said Analu.

The singer also highlighted that she will increase her concert schedule with the repertoire from her album. “I believe that this nomination will bring a lot of visibility to my new album and that makes me very happy and fulfilled. I really want to have the opportunity to do more shows with the repertoire from this album that I love so much.”

Who is Analu Sampaio, the 16-year-old singer nominated for a Latin Grammy?

Analu Sampaio is a 16-year-old singer, songwriter and musician who began her artistic career during her childhood. At the age of 5, she was already sharing the stage in performances in her hometown and at the age of 10, she had already sung with names such as Toquinho, Roupa Nova, Sandra de Sá, Baby do Brasil, Tiago Iorc, Sidney Magal, Jorge Vercilo, Daniel and Ivete Sangalo.

In 2020, she performed on TV Globo’s The Voice Kids and revealed her connection with MPB and Bossa Nova through tracks such as “Garota de Ipanema”. Analu Sampaio reached the semifinals of the edition.

At the age of 16, the singer has already been invited to major jazz festivals such as the New York MPB and Jazz Festival, International Jazz Day, and the SantAdreu Jazz Festival in Barcelona.
