Meet the main characters of the soap opera “Renascer”

The remake of the soap opera “Renascer” has been a success with the audience and on social media. Discover the main characters in the plot and their changes in relation to the 1993 version, by Benedito Ruy Barbosa.

Featured are:

• José Inocêncio
  José Inocêncio (Marcos Palmeiras and Humberto Carrão) appears in both in the second phase of the soap opera. He arrives as a foreigner in Ilhéus, Bahia, and becomes a respected cocoa producer in the region. He has the reputation of having a “closed body”.
• José Venâncio
  José Venâncio (Rodrigo Simas) only appears in the second phase of the soap opera, being an advertiser. He is one of the four children of José Inocêncio and Maria Santa, the Saint.
• Buba
  Buba (Gabriela Medeiros) is a trans woman in the remake of the soap opera. In the previous version, she was an intersex person. A successful psychologist, Buba lives a romance with José Venâncio and fights to guarantee her dignity and rights. She wants to adopt a child and start a family.
• Teak
  Teca (Lívia Silva) is a character who lives on the streets and has no financial means. Therefore, she considers having an abortion. However, after changing her mind, a car accident causes her to cross paths with psychologist Buba, changing her destiny forever.
• Eliana
  Eliana (Sophie Charlotte) is José Venâncio's first wife. An opportunist, she doesn't want to have children so as not to “spoil” her body. When she is exchanged by her husband, she does not rest until she solves a mystery involving Buba (the fact that she is a trans woman).
• João Pedro
  João Pedro (Juan Paiva) is the youngest son of Maria Santa and José Inocêncio, rejected by his father, who blames the child for Santinha's death. Unlike his brothers, he did not have the opportunity to study in the city and always worked on the cocoa farm.
• Zinha
  Zinha (Samantha Jones) is João Pedro's best friend since childhood. In the 1993 version of the soap opera, Zinha was a man played by Cosme dos Santos. Despite the gender change, the person remains the same in the story.
  
• Mariana
  Mariana (Theresa Fonseca) arrives at the farm taken by João Pedro (Juan Paiva). She appears to try to take back land that belonged to her grandfather.
