Meet the Porsche 918, the car with the most expensive property tax in São Paulo in 2022

With the increase in the values of used cars last year, the cost of the IPVA (Tax on the Ownership of Motor Vehicles) began to weigh more on the pockets of vehicle owners in 2022.

The tax has rates that vary according to the state, and São Paulo is one of the most expensive. A 4% tax is charged on the vehicle’s market value, the highest possible.

Thus, it is not surprising that one of the highest values of property tax that will be charged this year comes from São Paulo. The biggest tax was for the Porsche 918 Spyder of the year 2015, which has only two licensed units in the state.

With a market value measured at BRL 13,187,330, the full IPVA of the model would be BRL 527,493.20 in 2022. However, this year, in São Paulo, it is possible to pay the tax at once with a 9% discount . In this case, the vehicle owners would pay R$ 480,018.81. If they choose to pay in installments or in cash in February, the IPVA will have a 5% discount, that is, they would pay, in total, R$501,118.54.

Meet the model:

Or Porsche 918 Spyder

The performance of the Porsche 918 Spyder is so great that it is no longer considered a super sports car, but rather a “hypercar”. It was presented in Germany in September 2013 and only produced until 2015, the same year as the cars that are in São Paulo.

It was the German brand’s response to other similar models available in Europe, such as the McLaren P1 and Ferrari La Ferrari. Only 918 units were made available worldwide.

For the high value, buyers took home all the knowledge Porsche had acquired on the track, including famous competitions like the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. This means that, in addition to a suspension system and racing aerodynamics, the owners had technologies that only nowadays began to arrive in premium cars.

This is the case of electrification, because, yes, the Porsche 918 Spyder is a hybrid, breaking the paradigm that models of this type are aimed only at efficiency. The German brand equipped the sports car with a 4.6 V8 combustion engine that alone delivers 608 hp of power and 55 kgfm of torque even without the aid of a turbo. Along with it, a 129 hp electric motor on the front axle and another 156 hp on the rear are also working, directly assisting the conventional propeller.

In total, the Porsche 918 Spyder delivers 887 hp and 93.5 kgfm, while a 6.8 kWh battery pack powers the electric motors. With several options that included the intensive use of carbon fiber as in race cars, the sports car could weigh between 1,634 kg and 1,720 kg.

Aided by a seven-speed, four-wheel-drive, dual-clutch automated transmission, the Porsche 918 Spyder maintains performance numbers that are superlative even today, nearly nine years after its launch. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 345 km/h. At the same time, it can travel up to 16 km in electric mode only at speeds of up to 150 km.

Rare and expensive, the Porsche 918 Spyder is a high-value model anywhere in the world, targeted by millionaire collectors. In Brazil, in 2015, when it was new, the car did not cost less than R$ 3 million, that is, R$ 10 million more than what is currently evaluated.
