Meet the R$ 550 million yacht that won the “Oscar” of vessels

Kensho, a yacht worth nearly R$550 million (US$110 million), won Motor Yacht of The Year at the 2023 World Superyacht Awards, a kind of Oscar of vessels honoring the most outstanding yachts in the world. The vessel was built under Asian influences in its elements.

The 246-foot project was conceived by businessman Udo Mueller, a shareholder in marketing company Stroeer SE, and it took six years to complete. In addition to having the design made by the Frenchman Jouin Manku.

The yacht has four floors and is divided into seven cabins, including a large suite. The main cabin is luxurious and has a private living room, but the big difference is the bathroom. The room has a bathtub carved from an entire block of Carrara marble, a high-quality material.

“It had big, beautiful veins running through it like Japanese calligraphy. They haven’t found blocks like this for a few generations, but we managed to convince the owner [da peça de mármore] that we were the project he was looking for,” said designer Jouin Manku

Inside, the owners invested in exclusive mother-of-pearl door handles and elevator buttons, in addition to silk paintings on the headboards.

On the outside, the boat is made of glass, which makes guests enjoy a complete view. The deck has several spaces, such as swimming pools, spa, living area and dining space.

The yacht can be rented for a week for R$4.7 million (US$950,000)
