Meet Xuxas, Escobar fan and considered the biggest drug dealer in Portugal

Drug dealer Ruben Oliveira, known as “Xuxas”, was arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) of Portugal. At 38 years old, he is considered the greatest Portuguese drug dealer of all time.

Associated with major Colombian cartels and Major Carvalho, the “Brazilian Escobar”, whose right-hand man in Europe he was. Xuxas only deals with cocaine, at the highest level, and always in the shadows, far from notoriety.

Considered a “godfather” of drug trafficking, he has tattooed images of the two most famous drug lords, Pablo Escobar and El Chapo, on his body. He was captured due to a mega operation by the PJ in February this year, called “Exotic Fruit”.

The National Unit to Combat Drug Trafficking seized 3.5 million doses of cocaine from Latin America, which arrived in Portugal by air disguised in boxes with seven tons of tropical fruit, called papayas, and arrested five men, two Portuguese. and three foreigners.

The case also resulted in the seizure of goods, money and documents, and, from there, evidence resulted that the owner of the drug was Major Sérgio Carvalho, a former officer of the Brazilian Military Police – in an operation, focused on distribution to other countries. European countries, coordinated by Ruben Oliveira. It was the beginning of the end for “Xuxas”.

Major Carvalho was arrested last week in Hungary, where he was hiding under a false identity. As for “Xuxas”, after the PJ operation in February and the capture of collaborators, he also fled Portugal.

He had been managing operations remotely for the past few months, but returned last week to visit family members in the Olivais neighborhood of Lisbon, where he was located and captured by the PJ, which issued arrest warrants. He was presented to a judge and is now in pretrial detention.

“Xuxas”, in recent years, gained direct access to Major Carvalho, for whom he had previously worked indirectly. This gave it a dimension never seen before in Portugal, in the management of imports, logistics and distribution of cocaine in Europe in conjunction with one of the biggest traffickers in the world – Major Carvalho –, in addition to the association with the largest Colombian cartels.

Sérgio Carvalho was an expert in escapes and concealment – having even managed to simulate his own death in Spain.

The Brazilian had a real estate empire in Lisbon, which serves as a gateway for international traffic in Europe, especially by sea. In Portugal, he would count on the support of the Portuguese Ruben Oliveira, also allegedly owner of a real estate empire placed in the name of front men. Despite some care, the outward signs of wealth are plentiful.

The arrests of Sérgio Carvalho and Ruben Oliveira, the result of the articulation between the Judiciary and the Brazilian Federal Police, are considered a major operation against the international trafficking of cocaine from the American continent to Europe.
