Meeting of K. Mitsotaki – Karolou

Almost a year after his presence in Athens, on the occasion of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, the Prime Minister will meet today with the Prince of Wales, Charles, in Scotland.

Mr. Mitsotakis will be guided and hosted in the historic estate and buildings of the 18th century Dumfries House, which is managed by the Prince of Wales Foundation in the form of a social contribution. During the meeting with the heir to the British Throne, the possibility of gaining ideas from the development of the Dumfries House for the development of the Tatoi estate will be discussed, among other things. The Prince of Wales had expressed personal interest in this issue when he visited Greece and met with the Prime Minister at the Maximos Palace.

The budget of the projects executed by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in the former Royal Estate of Tatoiou amounts to 75 million euros and comes from various resources from the NSRF, the Recovery Fund and sponsorships from individuals. The projects are in progress and the time horizon for their implementation is December 31, 2025. For the museological studies, memoranda of cooperation have been signed with the most specialized bodies and with scientists. The issue of the uses of the buildings, which was a field of controversy for many years between the stakeholders, was resolved with absolute consent. The determination of the uses was made on the basis of the desired uses by the State of specific buildings and on the basis of the viability study approved in January 2021. The State restores and manages 32 buildings, while 22 buildings will be given to private investors. Buildings leased to private investors for specific uses should have approximately the same reciprocal equivalent. The establishment of a Special Purpose Company is being prepared to issue announcements for individuals. Our plan is for the company, after the completion of the interventions and projects, implemented by the State within the estate, to transform into a Management Body of Tatoi in the form of NPID with the participation in the Administration of representatives of the State, Civil Society, but and individuals.
