The Minister of Interior, Makis Voridis, held a meeting on Tuesday, May 31, with a staff of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with the main object of staffing the public services as well as the measures taken to strengthen the integrity of the Public Administration.

Mr. Voridis highlighted the significant reform progress that has been made in the public sector, analyzing the new legislative framework for evaluation and targeting that aims to create an effective system through the parallel improvement of human resources skills. He even pointed out that, in the context of improving public performance and achieving goals, a new framework is being prepared to motivate and reward civil servants.

At the same time, it developed the changes that are promoted in the staffing of the public sector through the pan-Hellenic competition of ASEP, which will assist in the qualitative upgrade of the human resources of the Public Administration and will accelerate the recruitment process, while ensuring the its integrity.

In addition, he presented the Annual Staffing Cycle which includes two mobility cycles and in relation to the annual recruitment planning has put in order the issue of the total coverage of the needs of the Public Administration.

In addition, Mr. Voridis listed a number of initiatives taken by the Government to improve integrity in the public sector.

In this context, he stressed the importance of the Internal Control System in the fight against corruption, which he described as a preventive mechanism for controlling the integrity of public procedures. In fact, he praised the role of the Integrity Consultant in resolving ethical dilemmas and issues of employee integrity, noting that to date the first 50 Consultants have been trained and are ready to take up their duties.

He added that the National Strategic Plan for the fight against corruption prepared by the Government and which is under the supervision of the National Transparency Authority, is moving in the same direction, noting that it is the “road map” of our country for the fight against corruption. , strengthening transparency and enhancing integrity and accountability.

Regarding Local Government, Mr. Voridis noted that the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the National Transparency Authority is working on a Code of Ethics and Conduct for Elected, which will describe the values ​​on which the behavior of public officials should be based. in the performance of their duties.

Finally, he presented the framework for lobbying that was implemented for the first time in our country and which regulates under conditions of absolute transparency and integrity the communication of the state institutions with representatives of interests in the exercise of influential activities.
