A review of bilateral relations and the search for ways to strengthen Greek-American cooperation were at the heart of the meeting that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had earlier at the Maximos Palace with members of the House of Representatives of the United States who are visiting Greece, led by the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, MP Gregory Mix, in the presence of US Ambassador George Tsounis.
In the context of the meeting, against the backdrop of the general upgrading of Greek-American cooperation, the importance of the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the US and his speech at a joint session of the House and Senate in Congress was emphasized, as well as the renewal of the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement, the which, among other things, highlights the strategic importance of Alexandroupolis.
The prime minister referred to the government’s reform work and pointed out that Greece has left behind the years of crisis, is a reliable and stable partner and ally, a pillar of stability, peace and security in the wider region of the eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans and south-eastern Europe .
The two sides exchanged views on the results of the NATO Summit in Madrid and expressed satisfaction with the clear messages of condemnation of revisionism and adherence to the principles of International Law.
In this context, the prime minister analyzed the challenges in the eastern Mediterranean to the American parliamentarians.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also focused on the comparative advantages presented by Greece as an investment destination and transit hub, with an emphasis on energy, especially Renewable Sources, transport, shipping and tourism.
