Earlier today, Secretary of State Nikos Dendias met with US Ambassador George Tsounis to exchange verbal statements on the ratification of the Protocol amending the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) by Greece and the United States.
“It is my great pleasure today to present to you the Note for the ratification of the MDCA, the Defense Agreement between Greece and the USA, by the Greek Parliament”, said Mr. Dendias, after his meeting with Mr. Tsounis.
As the Minister of Foreign Affairs reminded, the MDCA was voted, in fact, with a strong majority of more than 3/5 by the Parliament.
“The dialogue in the Greek Parliament was a dialogue that, regardless of the views of the parties, showed that the vast majority, even beyond the 181 deputies, believe deeply in Greece’s relationship with the United States,” Dendias said.
“I wish your presence here to continue with the further deepening of our relations, and with the thanks of the Greek government for the excellent reception you reserved for the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and for us, for the excellent reception also to the Prime Minister in Congress. “I hand over the Note to you for the ratification of the Agreement”, concluded the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
