According to the relevant announcement of the ministry, the focus of the discussion was the challenges of Immigration at global and European level and the need for cooperation, as highlighted through the Global Migration Pact that is currently being reviewed at the General Assembly.
Mr. Mitarakis stressed the importance of combating smuggling networks and illegal crossings, but also the need to effectively regulate legal immigration for the benefit of the host countries and the migrants themselves.
