Institutional as well as operational issues of the municipalities were at the center of a meeting held at noon in Chania town hall, by the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis with the mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis.
Officials of the municipality as well as the local organizations of the party participated in the meeting. The mayor of Chania particularly referred to the issue of understaffing in the municipalities, but also to the need for changes and reforms, which will highlight, as he pointed out, the role and importance of local government for citizens.
For his part, the president of PASOK-KINAL argued that local self-government in many European countries ensures development and social justice at the regional and local level, while in our country it has been directly undermined, as he said. At the same time, Mr. Androulakis referred to the problems faced by the citizens in matters of energy and accuracy.
Mr. Androulakis completed his circle of contacts in Chania in the Vice-Region where he met with the Vice-Region Governor Nikos Kalogeri. The infrastructures in Crete and the regional unit of Chania were at the center of the meeting, with Mr. Androulakis pointing out the need for new infrastructures in energy as well as in the field of water potential protection.
