Megan Fox had an ectopic pregnancy: here’s why it happens

L’abortion it is one of the dramatic experiences that more than anyone else has marked the existence of Megan Fox. The American actress, 37 years old and with three children born from her marriage to her ex-husband Brian Austin Green, included a poem dedicated to this tragic moment in his book Pretty Boys Are Poisonous. The daughter, who was waiting with her boyfriend, the musician Machine Gun Kelly, passed away in 2022, at 10 weeks gestation, leaving the actress devastated. Now Megan Fox is back to talking about herself and difficult experiences: in an interview with the magazine WWD she opened up about the “extrauterine pregnancy she had in her youth”. Admitting that it wasn’t as shocking as last year’s abortion, “because in this last case it happened with a person I loved deeply.”

What does ectopic pregnancy imply: a word to the doctor

Explain the Dr. Guido Corneglianimedical director of Clinica Forma in Milan: «ectopic pregnancy is a complicated pregnancy which, unfortunately, cannot continue. This condition presupposes, in fact, that the embryo does not implant in the uterus, as it should. The normal mechanism is such that the male sperm migrates once it encounters the female egg, implanting itself on the endometrium of the uterus. For random reasons and/or due to malformations of the uterus and tubes, as well as unknown congenital problems, it may happen that the embryo, i.e. the fusion of sperm and egg, does not implant in the uterus, but outside it. In 90% of cases in ectopic pregnancy the embryo implants in the tubes, but in other circumstances it also happens that it implants outside the uterus, creating more serious problems. In both cases what happens is that initially the patient appears pregnant from the testsbecause the egg produces hormones, but as medical checks begin, we realize that this embryo does not grow or if it grows it grows poorly. Blood loss and symptomatic pain may occur. At some point in the ectopic pregnancy this embryo dies, which generally occurs within weeks or at most a few months. When the embryo dies, blood loss occurs, the tissue becomes inflamed and the woman begins to feel severe pain. At that point the only viable solution, unless the abortion occurs spontaneously, is proceed by terminating the pregnancy, because the problem can get very serious, with copious blood loss and the risk of death for the woman.” In short, a condition that should not be underestimated in any way. Thanks to Megan Fox for talking about this.
