Sometimes they come back. Harry and Meghan Markle, two years after the last public event in Great Britain, they entered the St. Paul’s Cathedral, among other royal relatives. As if nothing had happened, however, a lot has changed since 2020, we know it well. The Sussexes are no longer senior members of the royal family, they returned to London only because this time they could not say no to the 96-year-old queen, for the official celebration of her 70 years of reign. And so they landed in London with their children Archie and Lilibet, never before been on British soil, being able to count exceptionally on the escort of the royal family.
At Trooping The Color, official occasion that this year opened the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II, have remained on the sidelines. Present, but only for private meetings with relatives. They did not look out from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, and Harry – unlike his brother – no longer wore the military uniform of the past, to which he was very attached.
Today, however, in St. Paul they entered through the main door. The queen was absent, we only heard about it last night because she was too worn out by the celebrations of the first day. Harry and Meghan arrived hand in hand. They sat down, however, away from Kate Middleton and William. Moreover, today, their roles within the royal family are even more distant. The Sussexes chose it.
At the end of the function, the two went away with the rest of the relatives, but they should not attend the reception in the nearby Guildhall, which sees the presence of a number of other members of the royal family and high-level politicians, including the prime minister. Boris Johnson and Interior Minister Priti Patel. They will spend the weekend again in London, then apparently they will leave for California. No second thoughts.
