After the multiple solo public appearances of Prince Harry – lastly the charity trip to Africa – also for Meghan Markle the time has come to show herself to the world without her husband by her side. There Duchess appeared, without Harry, at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital gala. A fundraising evening which was also attended by VIPs such as Kaley Cuoco, Jamie Lee Curtis and Demi Lovato (who performed for the audience, about a hundred people). I’m wearing a recycled red dress (the reworking of a creation Carolina Herrera worn already in 2021 when she and Harry attended the event in New York Salute to Freedom), Meghan provided only smiles on the red carpet (see photo below).
But because the Sussexes have recently decided to separate their paths at least in public? According to several royal observers, this is a precise one strategy of the dukes. After Megxit they saw their popularity collapse in the United Kingdom – and they probably expected this – but above all they failed to win over the Americans who, even after the farewell to the British royal family, had welcomed them with sympathy. The Sussexes’ American dream is struggling to take off. In other words: seven months after the launch on Instagram American Riviera Orchard, Markle’s lifestyle brand has not yet put any products on sale. Harry, for his part, is described as a fish out of water in the States, eager to return – at least part time – to British royal duties. Meanwhile in the United States, after the initial enthusiasm aroused by a prince as a neighbour, sympathy towards Harry has waned, as has that towards Meghan. The Americans didn’t like the revelations that much Sparenor the Sussexes’ constant attacks on the royal family. The dukes liked the royal aura, while sensationalism soon bored us, especially when there was nothing left to reveal. And now Harry and Meghan are famous above all – due to the millionaire (and not very profitable) contracts with Netflix – like those «paid millions of dollars to do absolutely nothing”.
