With new episodes of the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan they have also arrived new tears in front of the cameras of the Duchess of Sussex. We’ve already seen her crying in the first trailer, next to a prince Harry heartbroken. Then in the first episode: at the time of Megxit, in a hotel room in Canada, with no make-up on and a towel on her head. This time instead Meghan Markle is burst into sobs talking about the death threats receipts on social media but also by correspondence, through anthrax envelopes. Death threats triggered, in his opinion, by the toxic tabloid fiction British: «I realized that people actually believe the stories told about me by the tabloid press», said the former actress sitting on a sofa next to her husband. Meghan explained that the team that takes care of her security constantly monitors the threats that come to her online. For example «a tweet from a few days ago» which read: «Meghan just has to die. Someone has to kill her. Maybe it should be me.” Reading it, the duchess says she thought: “Here is what happens because of the people who create hatred”.
Continuing to cry, Meghan explained that she is especially afraid for her two sons, Archie, 3, and Lilibet Diana1: «I’m a mom. This is my real life. Nevertheless the tabloids, to see a few more copies, are making people wish I was dead. I’m terrified. At night I sometimes run around the house wondering: “Are the doors closed? Are the alarms active? Are we safe? Are my children safe?”».
In another episode of the series, Meghan said that until a few years ago she was convinced that people would dismiss the stories told about her by the tabloids as falsehoods or exaggerations. Until once, after the breakup with dad Thomas Marklein Liverpool she was approached by a woman who shouted at her: «What you are doing to your father is not right». That, Markle explained, was the first time he thought, “Oh, my God. People really believe these things.”

In the narrative of the Sussexes the intrusions of the British tabloids in their lives – and the serious consequences that those intrusions would have unleashed – are a constant. Before Meghan spoke of the death threats linked to the “falsehoods of the tabloid press”, Harry for example had denounced: “Due to the stress of the legal battle with the tabloids, my wife had a miscarriage». The prince in front of the Netflix cameras admitted that he could not bring evidence to support the accusation against him, but assured that he had no doubts.
