Meghan Markle told how Prince Harry inspired the final episode of her podcast: «It is an example of the softest masculinity»

For the latest episode of his podcast, Meghan Markle she was inspired by her husband, the prince Harry, to include more male vocals. In the last episode of this season of Archetypesin fact, the Duchess of Sussex has invited three men on her show for the first time, Andy Cohen, Trevor Noah And Judd Apatow, to discuss the gender stereotypes and roles that hold women back. An idea that she, she revealed, came from her husband: «If you’ve listened to the last 11 episodes, you’ll have noticed that you haven’t heard many male voices. In fact, until now, aside from an appearance by my husband in the first episode, this program exclusively featured female vocalistsMeghan said, referring to the moment Harry stopped by to say hello Serena Williams, his first guest. «You It was a deliberate choice. It was important to us that women have a space to share their authentic and complicated, complex and dynamic experiences. To be heard and understood.”

Reale continued, “But through this process, it has also occurred to me — and actually, at my husband’s suggestion — that if we really want to change the way we think about gender and the limiting labels by which we separate people , then we need to broaden the conversation… and we need to actively include men in that conversation and certainly in that effort.” To this end, the duchess “has enlisted some very thoughtful men. Men who are the architects of some of the most successful films and television shows, but who are also part of the cultural conversation in a significant way, not only thanks to their role in the media but also, for some of them, their roles as husbands and fathers ».

During the conversation with Noah, Meghan has opened up about the inspiration of her children’s book “The Bench”based on the relationship between Harry and their son Archie: «I wrote a children’s book that came out a year ago, or a couple of years ago, and it’s basically about this softer side of masculinity» explained Meghan, «and how I saw my husband, also in his role as father, as an example of this aspect. He’s the person that kids can look up to and say, “Oh, that’s what it’s like to be a man. This is the example. He’s the person I can go to when I’m crying and who will sit with me.” That level of nurturing can come from a male figure in life just as much as it does from a female figure. It’s important to be able to provide this and to show this part of your personality, without it making you less of a man.”

At the end of the episode, the Duchess also took stock of everything she’s learned and all the great guests she’s spoken to over the course of this 12-episode series: «I don’t know what I expected, but what came out of it for me was enlightening and also ironic. Because even though this format is audio only and you can hear my thoughts without any images, I feel seen,” shared the author, “I never thought that using my voice I would feel seen. But it is so. And the feedback from women throughout the season is that they too feel seen. As we’ve heard today, men also see our experience differently. They see us. They see us more clearly.”
