Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro will not drop in price after the release of Meizu 18

It was logical to think that after the announcement of the flagship smartphones Meizu 18, the previous flagships – Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro – will fall in price. But no, they will not become cheaper. And from the sale will not go anywhere.

Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro will not drop in price after the release of Meizu 18

Even before the announcement of the Meizu 18, the company said that this line will only have flagships – and no budget models. And now it became clear that the role of inexpensive (relatively, of course) smartphones is destined for last year’s Meizu 17. Thus, they will compete with Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, the base Huawei P50 (in the new line it will take the place of last year’s P40 Lite), OnePlus 9E and with other budget flagships of the new wave.

Extending the life cycle of last year’s flagships for another year is a bold decision by Meizu, but it makes sense, especially in the current situation of a large shortage of chips and components. But the fact that the previous price for them will hold for another year can play a bad joke with Meizu 17: in this case, Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, OnePlus 9E and many other new items may be much more affordable. However, Meizu at least guarantees the continuation of constant software updates for the Meizu 17 with the introduction of new features, and this is encouraging.
