Mellonabilities: Skills Accelerator continues to integrate people with disabilities into the labor market

People with disabilities face significant barriers to accessing education, employment and social life. 53% of people with disabilities experienced social exclusion during the pandemic, while 6 out of 10 were financially insecure.

The pandemic and the ensuing economic crisis have increased the vulnerability of people with disabilities to inequality, with an increased risk of poverty due to exclusion and stigma.

MYTILINEOS intervenes effectively and continues its cooperation with the Social Enterprise Knowl in the framework of the innovative training program for people with disabilities, #mellonabilities, planning the implementation of the 2nd cycle.

The first cycle of the program was completed in December 2021, with great success as 12% of the participants are employed in a stable job. During the program, the 25 participants attended 1,418 hours of free online training in 24 thematic units, with the invaluable contribution of 21 counselors / trainers while 16% of the beneficiaries received professional certification, acquiring useful knowledge and skills.

The success of the program is due to the effective methodology of the Skills Accelerator – Employability of the Social Enterprise knowl, a holistic intensive training program, “built” on the strengths of each beneficiary, focusing individually on the profile, needs and professional expectations.

The 2nd cycle of the program, lasting 6 months, will provide 40 hours of training and counseling in soft, hard and digital skills, at zero cost, utilizing the dynamic personalized Road Map of each individual and especially his strengths to develop a long-term sustainable future for themselves, responding to the challenges of the future. Among other things, it offers the development of CVs (with transfer letters) and simulation of interviews with experienced HR market executives, mental empowerment sessions and direct connection with the labor market.

This initiative acquires special value for the Company and is implemented in the context of the strategic partnerships it develops with important social actors to achieve the Global Sustainable Development Goals for Zero Poverty (1), Decent Work & Economic Growth (8) and Poor (10) ).
