Meloni: The only solution for immigration is a European mission to protect the external borders

The Italian Prime Minister gave a press conference Georgia Meloni and among other things he referred to immigration and the attitude of the French government.

“The Ocean Viking ship is the first to dock in France and carried 234 migrants. The reaction of France, however, towards our country, was particularly harsh, even if we, since the beginning of the year, have accepted almost 90,000 immigrants”, he stressed

“They say they will block the relocation agreement. The relevant agreement stipulated that 8,000 people should be relocated from our country. Until now, however, the number does not exceed 117. Obviously, something is wrong,” added the Italian Prime Minister.

According to Meloni, “the situation cannot be managed in the same way as in the past” and “Italy, Greece, Malta, they cannot fight, each time with the rest for this matter”. “The only solution is a European mission to protect the external borders. Europe allocated billions of euros to negotiate with Turkey and manage the flows from the East. I am also asking for a European solution,” underlined Georgia Meloni, who said she was ready to discuss the whole issue with European partners.

Until the end of 2022, the reduction of fuel taxes

At the same time, the Italian Prime Minister referred to the economic measures taken by her government, to deal with the wider costs of the energy crisis, reports the correspondent of APE-MPE in Italy.

As he pointed out, among other things, the reduction of taxes on fuel is extended until the end of the year, new licenses for mining are to be given natural gas in Italian territorial waters, while 3.4 billion euros will be allocated for a tax refund to businesses, as aid for the purchase of electricity and natural gas. And private businesses, finally, as is already the case with households, will be able to pay their electricity and gas bills in monthly installments (up to 34 in total).
