Meloni’s government plans to resume transferring asylum seekers to Albania, according to reports

“In January, the government of Georgia Meloni wants to resume the transfer of asylum seekers to the centers that Italy has set up in northern Albania,” according to Italian public television Rai and much of the country’s media. The Italian prime minister discussed the whole issue on Monday in a meeting held at Rome’s Palazzo Chizzi government building, which was attended by the ministers of the interior Matteo Piandedozzi, foreign Antonio Tajani and defense Guido Crosetto. “The Supreme Court of our country proved right, essentially, to our government, regarding the fact that it is the right of every government to define which are the safe countries of origin of immigrants. “Judges can deal with individual cases regarding these countries, but not stop applying the set of measures we have approved,” said the Italian Prime Minister.
