Italy’s victory at the European Soccer Championships could not fail to be celebrated on social media: the joy of having won 4 to 3 against England, to take back the cup after more than 50 years (we hadn’t won since ’68), to share such an important milestone after a year and a half of pandemic, it bounced on chats and message boards a second later the goal that made history, with memorable posts and memes (of which you can find a selection in the gallery above).
They celebrate, first of all, the return of the cup to Italy: on the other hand, after days in which the British tried to tease him, with that «It’s coming home» (that is, “he is coming home”) which has also become a stadium choir (and even pronounced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson), we had to reiterate that instead the trophy returned to Rome.
«It’s coming Rome» immediately entered the Twitter trends: Bonucci also yelled at the camera.

Among the protagonists of the evening also the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella: he did not hold back the joy in the stands at Wembley, just like his predecessor Sandro Pertini in the 1982 World Cup, and his image of exultation and pride was among the most shared of the final.
As well as those that make fun of the English royal family: there is a frame that portrays Prince William with his wife Kate Middleton and little prince George with a disconsolate expression, which seems to have been made on purpose to become the perfect starting point for irony.
