Memorandum of Cooperation between the Export Credit Insurance Agency and the UAE counterpart

Memorandum of Cooperation between the Export Credit Insurance Organization (OAEP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the counterpart Organization of the UAE. Etihad Credit Insurance was signed on Tuesday 23 November at the EXPO 2020-Greek Pavilion in Dubai.

The purpose of the memorandum is to develop a creative and close cooperation that will bring multiple mutual benefits. In particular, the strengthening of trade and the support of business relations between Greece and the United Arab Emirates, with the following actions being more characteristic:

– Exchange of business practices in areas of mutual interest such as insurance, reinsurance, financing and guarantees for exports of goods-services and investments.

– Exchange of commercial information in the context of credit risk management, for the creditworthiness of buyers located respectively in Greece or the UAE.

Organizing business (B2B) meetings and events between export companies, based in Greece and the UAE in many sectors such as agriculture, construction, steel and aluminum industries, ceramics, renewable energy sources, mechanical equipment, waste management .

Facilitating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and finding specific solutions in both the export and investment sectors.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed on behalf of the Export Credit Insurance Organization (OAEP) by the General Manager, Grigoris Stamatopoulos and on behalf of Etihad Credit Insurance by the CEO Massimo Falcioni.

The General Manager of the Export Credit Insurance Organization (OAEP), Grigoris Stamatopoulos, expressed his satisfaction for the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the two institutions. “Through the production of mutual business opportunities, we increase the prospects of penetration of Greek export companies in the UAE. We have concluded an important agreement which further strengthens the bilateral relations between Greece and the UAE and at the same time constitutes for the O.A. OP the first of a series of partnerships that will develop in the context of its forthcoming reform and upgrade of its role, the interconnection of export companies with the world market and the mobilization of financing for the creation of a nationally produced product with international value “.

Etihad Credit Insurance CEO Massimo Falcioni said: “We are pleased to forge this new alliance with the Greek Export Credit Insurance Agency, which will play a key role in developing and increasing the competitiveness of US exports. The signing of the Memorandum was welcomed by the Secretary General of International Economic Relations and Extroversion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ioannis Smyrlis, as the beginning of a new period for the Organization, which is characterized by a clearly extroverted orientation with a Greek orientation. . The strengthening of the role of OAEP and its emergence as a key tool for the support and promotion of export companies comes as a tangible result of the Government’s decision to concentrate all extroversion structures under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
