Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the Hellenic Development Bank – HDB and the National Transparency Authority

The National Transparency Authority and the Hellenic Development Bank have signed an important corporate agreement that strengthens transparency and effective internal control procedures.

The MoU aims at a multi-layered collaboration that includes updating the Code of Ethics & Conduct of HDB executives, developing Integrity Policies (e.g. policy to avoid conflict of interest phenomena), providing expertise to protect whistleblowers by creating internal reference channel.

It will also strengthen HDB’s internal audit processes, while providing access to the National Transparency Authority’s Network of Public Administration Internal Auditors.

The next stage is the educational actions aimed at raising the awareness of HDB Staff on matters of integrity and internal control.

Welcoming the President and Managing Director, Ms. Athina Hatzipetrou and the executive team of the Hellenic Development Bank, the Director of the National Transparency Authority, Ms. Alexandra Rogaku, noted: “Our common goal is to strengthen the internal control and accountability mechanisms and procedures of the Hellenic Development Bank. The key axes of our cooperation will be the exchange of expertise and methodological tools of Internal Control, as well as the design and implementation of educational actions to sensitize HDB executives on matters of integrity and transparency”.

For her part, the President and CEO of the Hellenic Development Bank, Athina Hatzipetrou, stated that: “By signing today’s memorandum, we are laying the foundations for an important cooperation. Our goal is common: to develop new policies, new practices and modern tools that will strengthen integrity, meritocracy, internal control and above all business ethics with consistency and responsibility”.

The signing of the Memorandum is the culmination of the already very good cooperation of the two sides, the mutual understanding and the common will to promote transparency and the best corporate governance practices.
