The goals of the important and strategic cooperation between the Hellenic Health Tourism Council, ELITOUR, and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, as stated in the text of the agreement, are the participation of the country’s hotel accommodations in the development of Health Tourism and in hosting Health Travelers, Medical Tourists and Thermal Tourists, on the part of X.EE. Greek Health Tourism. Specifically, the ELITOUR Council aims to support the achievement of the goals of the memorandum by ensuring, on its part, the coordination and cooperation of foreign businesses and health agencies with corresponding partners from within for broader issues of mutual interest.

The President of the Hellenic Health Tourism Council, ELITOUR, and Regional Governor of Attica, Mr. Giorgos Patoulis, described the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation for the expansion of Tourism 12 months a year and for the prospects for the development and promotion of Greek Health Tourism as crucially important “at a time when the global Health Tourism, Medical Tourism and Wellness Tourism are making a strong comeback, with the aim of Restoring the Health and Wellness of travelers after two and a half years of pandemic”.

The President of ELITOUR and Regional Governor of Attica emphasized that the very conditions of the international market and the worldwide development of Health Tourism dictate the necessity of such cooperation as the one signed with the ELITOUR-X.E.E. memorandum. “Health Tourists, and families traveling to receive Health, Spa and Wellness services, have many obvious needs, such as efficient transportation, accommodation, food service, shopping and tourism activities. But there are intangibles as well. , as they are characterized, and relate precisely to the culture of the hotel industry: they include the pre-arrival experience and the hospitality experience until departure. Therefore, a wisely designed Health Tourism destination must understand the evolving demands of Health Tourists, design services , products and business models to meet.”

The President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, stated: “The thematic differentiation and enrichment of our product is a strategic choice for the sustainable future of Greek hospitality. For this reason, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels has prepared since 2011 the study on the development of medical tourism in Greece. In this direction, the emergence of Greece as a global destination for health and wellness tourism emerges as a first-line priority for which it is worth joining ideas and forces. With today’s signatures, we are laying the foundations of a targeted effort and I want to warmly thank the Regional Governor of Attica and President of the Hellenic Health Tourism Council George Patoulis for this large-scale cooperation. We have the people, we have the infrastructure, we have the opportunities and above all the will to achieve our common goals” .
