Unfortunately, one thing we girls get used to too soon is being judged on our physical appearance. Fortunately, in recent years, things have been changing and, thanks to a whole new sensitivity to the concept of body shaming, we are learning to understand that every body is different and that their respective peculiarities are strengths, not defects.
Have you ever thought that the same goes for men too? They too experience the same insecurities due to certain aesthetic standards imposed by the media and society. Of course, women are more targeted but for men it’s not a walk in the park either.
And to remind us of this is Jonah Hill who, in his latest post on Instagram, told how after 37 years he finally loves himself and has learned to accept his body.

It all started with a photo published by the Daily Mail with the clear intention of making fun of the actor’s physical form. Things, however, did not go as usual: Hill he took the photo and took the opportunity to talk about how this type of situation, for a long time, hurt him. “I don’t think I ever took off my T-shirt in the pool until I was about 30, even in front of family and friends – he wrote in his post -. It probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities hadn’t been exacerbated by years of press ironies about my body. Then the idea that the media can now sneak such photos of me while I’m surfing, without it being able to damage me is cool. “

The weight of the interpreter of Wolf of Wall Street has always been the subject of discussion: a few years ago he underwent a crash diet, losing almost 40 kilos, all documented by the media who have never stopped stigmatizing any variations.

A fate that has also happened to other celebrities. As the protagonist of Prison Break, Wentworth Miller who was targeted by social media and the press for a photo of him, around The Angels, in which he appeared heavier than usual. In multiple interviews, he then explained that he was experiencing a very difficult period in his life, characterized by depression and suicidal tendencies, and that his only outlet was food. “All that irony about my body – he added -, in that period, was the last thing I needed, but I survived and now I can tell it.”
SAM SMITH

Also Sam Smith he has been struggling with accepting his body for years, especially after becoming a public figure. The way in which his body was plumbed by the press and social media led him to nurture a real obsession: he weighed himself several times a day, continually looked at himself in the mirror and fasted for days before a public event or a shooting. . The acceptance process also went through a photo on Instagram: wearing only a pair of jeans, he wanted to communicate to the world that he had regained possession of his body.
DAVID HARBOUR
Our beloved Jim Hopper he was told, during an audition for a role in a movie, that he was too fat to play it. The actor said that the casting director, after his audition, had complimented him and then added at the end that “after seeing me without a shirt, he was very worried about my health and that he advised me to do something”. The answer of Harbour? He sent him soundly to that country, saying he was no longer interested in the part. Fortunately, unlike the previous cases, the story did not have psychological impacts, indeed we can say that his physicality is one of his trademarks, not to mention that now, for many, he is a real sex symbol.
JASON MOMOA
Just when you thought you had seen every stupid take on the internet, Jason Momoa is now getting freaking body shamed, saying he has "dad bod". I'm sorry, but what do *your* daddies look like??!!! My god. pic.twitter.com/PaktuR4jlw

If we talk about sex symbols we can only mention him and the body shaming he immediately after the publication of some of his photos best describes the absurdity that lies behind comments, absolutely out of place, of media and social networks. The actor, less dry than usual paparazzi, was mocked by thousands of online comments and the press gave him the nickname of “dad bod” (body like a dad, that is the one a little softer and with a little belly). Fortunately, there were some voices out of the chorus: those who pointed out that maybe they were all the fathers.
