Two men, 30 and 32, were indicted by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) after the completion of the investigation that found a robbery of jewelry valued at $ 500,000 in the capital.
According to PCMG investigations, the pair specializes in the crime of Bank Saidinha and used the same practice for theft of jewelry. The crime occurred in May 2024, in the Floresta neighborhood, east of Belo Horizonte.
According to police, the victim, representative of a company in the state of Mato Grosso, had finished two lots of jewelry from a virtual auction promoted by a bank branch and was in the mining capital to remove the items. She was approached while walking down Itajubá Street, about ten minutes after leaving the bench, and had the backpack with the jewelry stolen.
According to police, the pair entered the bank branch, passing by a client -even simulated a jewelry attachment they had taken -and began talking to the representative of the company Mato Grosso, questioning why he was there, if he was alone.
“According to the victim, she tried to disbate, not passing some information, but at the moment she went to withdraw the jewelry at the window, one of the suspects was also called to be attended, and all the material that was being removed by the victim was placed in front of the thief,” said Deputy Gustavo Barletta.
According to the delegate, the investigations pointed out that the investigated would have already made the analysis of possible victims on other occasions. “They didn’t do the criminal practice precisely because they found values low, and often people were just there to pledge their jewelry,” he said.
The pair already have a history of crimes against heritage, especially the bank and theft of homes, among other crimes. “Although the Bank Saidinha is a criminal modality that is declining, because people do not draw so much money and the agencies have taken care of security, the criminals migrate, as was done in this endeavor,” said Barletta.
“It was exactly Modus Operandi that they used in the Bank Saidinha, but this time they were more bold. They themselves went to the agency to monitor the people who were there and made the approach to the victim,” concluded the delegate.
One of the targets of the investigation was arrested by PCMG, in the Paquetá neighborhood, Pampulha region, in the capital, in December 2024, while driving a luxury vehicle, in the amount of $ 130,000, which was seized.
The second had the arrest warrant served last week in the Alto Vera Cruz neighborhood, east of Belo Horizonte, when civilian police still seized another car valued at $ 70,000. The police inquiry was concluded with the indictment of the suspects for the crime of theft.
