Mendonça extends the deadline for Petrobras to explain fuel readjustments to July 1

Minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), gave Petrobras more time to explain the criteria used by the state-owned company to readjust the price of fuel. Thus, the minister gave until July 1, 2022 for the presentation of the requested information and the complete documentation.

“Given the reasonableness of the claim and the principle of procedural cooperation, I grant the additional period requested until July 1, 2022,” said Mendonça. Petrobras, however, undertook to send, within the initial deadline, “part of the requested documentation”.

Last Friday (17), Mendonça had given Petrobras five days to provide “meticulous information” on the increase in diesel and gasoline prices and on the pricing policy of the last 60 months. The deadline ended this Friday (24). Petrobras then asked for another five working days because there is a large volume of information to be provided.

The previous decision took place on the same day that the state-owned company announced a new adjustment in fuel prices. Gasoline has already gone up in refineries. Mendonça also defined that fuel ICMS rates should be uniform throughout the country as of July 1st.
