The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of the trade agreement after Brexi between Britain and the European Union, removing the last obstacle to full ratification of the pact, the RES reports.
MEPs voted in favor of the trade agreement and cooperation agreement, with 660 votes in favor and 5 against, while 32 abstained, the European Parliament announced today.

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the approval by the European Parliament of the trade agreement with Britain and said that its implementation was crucial.
“The TCA (Trade and Cooperation Agreement) marks the establishment of a strong and close partnership with the United Kingdom,” von der Leyen said in a Twitter post. “Faithful application is essential.”
For his part, the President of the European Council Charles Michel stated that Britain remains an “important friend and partner” of the European Union.
“I warmly welcome the results of the European Parliament vote on the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement. “It marks an important step forward in EU-UK relations and opens a new era,” Michel said in a Twitter post.
“The EU will continue to work constructively with the United Kingdom as an important friend and partner.”
