Mercado awaits Powell address to US Congress; fiscal framework remains on the radar

The eyes of the whole world are turned towards the expected speech by Jerome Powell, president of the Federal Reserve System (Fed, the central bank of the United States), in the North American Congress.

Over there, the expectation is that he will speak from noon on Tuesday (7) and be questioned by parliamentarians, after presenting the monetary policy report to the banking committee of the US Senate. This speech may give a sign of whether interest rates will exceed the speculated level of 5.5%.

Also this week, the North American country is still awaiting the payroll data, which brings the number of job openings created in the month of February.

In Brazil, speculations around the new fiscal framework are still on the radar. The rule, which involves a Complementary Law Project to be approved by Congress, has started to get off the ground and, according to the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), the text will now be presented to other ministries that make up the economic wing. . Afterwards, it will be handed over to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

In recent interviews, Haddad has defended the adoption of a “simple, objective and less detailed” framework.
