Mercedes-Benz said that “a temporary power outage of the communication module caused by an accident could result in incorrect positioning of the vehicle during a potential emergency call … However, other automatic and manual emergency call functions remain fully functional.”

Last year Mercedes-Benz Europe had to investigate the failure of its automatic eCall system. Investigation revealed that there were several cases where his system indicated the wrong location of the vehicle.
