Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser for a new concept car, an electric minivan, which the company is currently developing. According to the publication, the concept is dubbed the Concept EQT and will be unveiled on May 10 as an electric version of the upcoming T-Class.
The T-Class is an upcoming ICE passenger minivan that is being created alongside the next generation Citan cargo version. The company intends to apply the already tried and tested strategy that has been worked out on Metris, a van that has a passenger version of the V-Class and an electric EQV. Therefore, it is assumed that future novelties will receive a spacious interior, sliding doors on both sides, as well as advanced multimedia technologies.
It is unclear when production of the Concept EQT will start, but it is already known that the next generation Citan will begin production in Europe in the second half of this year, and production of the T-Class will start in the first half of 2022. The EQT version will launch around the same time as the T-Class.
The T-Class and EQT will target family and active people who don’t want to take a huge SUV or pickup truck. Both variants of the minivan will use the platform from Renault Nissan Mitsubishi.
