Mercedes showed the concept car Vision EQXX – an electric car, on which they worked for 1.5 years in cooperation with the teams of Formula 1 and Formula E. Ultimately, the company’s engineers solved one of the main problems of cars on electric traction – the range. In this regard, the Vision EQXX offers a record 1000 km on a single charge.
Vision EQXX is not a continuation of the serial EQS and EQE, but a separate original development. This is a full-fledged car (almost 5 m long, 2800 mm wheelbase) with a four-door body and a spacious interior. An electric motor with a capacity of about 200 hp is installed inside, which consumes less than 10 kWh per 100 km. For comparison, most electric vehicles are equipped with motors that consume about 20 kWh per 100 km.

One of the key features of the new product is aerodynamics. The company claims a drag coefficient of just 0.18 Cx, thanks largely to the car’s special shape with a long tail and taper towards the stern. The Vision EQXX weighs 1,750 kg using CFRP, fiberglass, aluminum and UBQ composite. The overall weight is also influenced by the battery, which is half the size and one third lighter than the serial Mercedes EQS electric vehicle. Its capacity is 100 kW ∙ h, but a solar battery is additionally installed on the roof, adding 25 km to the cruising range. The accumulated energy does not go to the engine, but to power the secondary systems of the car.

The Vision EQXX cabin is made from environmentally friendly materials, including bamboo and cactus fibers. An impressive multimedia system with artificial intelligence and a full-width front screen. Screen diagonal – 47.5 inches, resolution – 8K. There is an audio system capable of playing 4D sound.
The company claims that Vision EQXX technologies will be implemented in the next generation of the future-proof modular MMA platform, which will form the basis for future Mercedes models.
