Merchants who helped Thiago Rodrigues say that the actor fell alone

Testimonials from three people who work at an antiques fair in Gávea, south of Rio de Janeiro, should finally end the investigation into how actor Thiago Rodrigues was injured last Sunday morning (11). THE CNN located the couple who helped the actor and they are categorical in stating that Thiago was injured alone, without a fight or robbery.

“He was sitting in a tent out front with his body turned upside down, sleeping”, says merchant Ramiro Magalhães, who saw the actor before the injury. Asked what he thought when he saw the actor, Ramiro said: “he would soon fall. The weight of the head would pull him forward and that’s what happened. He hit his head on the ground.”

His wife, Claudia Magalhães, helped the actor after the fall. She says that, at first, the actor was reluctant to go to the hospital and only after the conversation managed to convince him to take a taxi.

“He was calmer, then I saw that on the floor there were those wallets with several credit cards and his backpack all open. I took the wallet in my hand and said ‘look, the wallet is here and I’m going to put it inside his backpack’ “, she told the CNN 🇧🇷

“Afterwards he was calmer. My husband got water, then I said: ‘man, you’re all bloodied, they won’t want to take you’. Then he took his cap to hide the wound and left in a taxi”, completes Claudia.

Over the last week, agents from the 15th Police Station, in Gávea, have been committed to solving the mystery. They collected testimony from Thiago himself, from the friend who was the last person to be with him and from the taxi driver who took him to the hospital after his injuries. The trend is that traders who were heard by the CNN give testimony at the police station and the case will be closed.

THE CNN he also located the first person to find Thiago Rodrigues in Praça Santos Dumont, the merchant Anderson Peixoto. He is responsible for setting up the stalls at the antique fair where Ramiro and Claudia work. Anderson says that he even asked Thiago to get off the top of the tent where he was sitting so that he could continue the service, but he was not answered.

“As soon as he arrived I said to him: ‘Can I mount the wire here?’ He didn’t want to leave, he said he was waiting for the Uber”, he said.

It all started with a piece of news in a newspaper column on the day Thiago was injured. The text stated that he had been “beaten up by bandits”, suggesting that the source of the information had been the actor himself. The account, however, was not supported in Thiago’s statement to the police two days later. He also did not record an occurrence or criminal examination at the IML.

The investigation then began to retrace Thiago’s steps in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday of last week. They heard the police officer who was on duty at the Miguel Couto hospital, where the actor was taken, a friend who was with Thiago until early Sunday morning and the taxi driver who took him to the hospital.

Other elements made the robbery thesis lose strength throughout the week, such as the fact that the alleged bandits did not take a gold chain that Thiago had around his neck or his backpack, with his wallet and several credit cards.

In the security camera images obtained by the police, it is also not possible to identify any atypical movement in Praça Santos Dumont, ruling out the possibility that a group of thieves robbed Thiago there. His friend’s reports pointed out that, when the two said goodbye and she left, the sun had already risen.

Other security camera images were sent to the police station and are being analyzed by Bianca Lima’s team. If the records show the actor falling alone, the investigation can be closed and the case dismissed even without new witnesses.
