The EU demands respect for its leaders and member states, said Commission Vice President Margaritis Schoinas when asked about Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s attack on Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkey’s objections to Finland and Finland joining.
He pointed out that Finland, Sweden and the Greek Prime Minister do not need to prove their democratic credentials to anyone. In particular, Mr. Schoinas said that “the EU is facing a war, a geopolitical crisis and a great economic difficulty. The last thing we need is inflammatory rhetoric, unprovoked attacks and characterizations. […] We demand and expect respect for all our leaders and all our member states. “Finland, Sweden, the most advanced democracies in the world and the Greek prime minister do not need to prove their democratic credentials,” said the vice-president of the European Commission.
