Discord — a messaging application similar to WhatsApp and popular among gamers — released today (12) a mechanism for monitoring children and parents, called Family Center, after controversy over criminal and extremist content practiced against minors on the platform.
The tool aims to prevent possible criminal acts and embarrassment against children and adolescents by monitoring their children’s activity by parents. This new function of the application will ensure that those responsible for the minor have an idea of how the child uses the platform, in addition to issuing a weekly report with the main information, such as, for example, with whom the child is interacting, times, etc.
However, those responsible for the child will not have access to messages exchanged between the child and other users, as in a spy application. Currently, Discord has more than 150 million users worldwide.
