Hamas liberated an Israeli -American hostage held prisoner for 19 months in Israeli forces in the context of efforts to reach a new ceasefire agreement, the organization said. Edan Alexander, 21, served in the Israeli army at the Gaza border when he was captured by Hamas fighters on October 7, 2023. On Monday, Israel interrupted his military operations in Gaza for a few hours to facilitate transportation.
