A fridge magnet with the image of a boss in a tuxedo, like Al Pacino in «The Godfather», other magnets with cartoon characters «Masha and the Bear» and «PjMask», and more bunnies and squirrels, as well as prints of wild animals. In the third hideout of Matteo Messina Denaro, the one identified in vicolo San Vito in Campobello di Mazara, and in which the boss lived the last days of his fugitive, various objects were found, very heterogeneous, moreover, by the carabinieri del Ros.
There is also a photo of Al Pacino attached to a wall and a cup dedicated to the «Godfather»: the Messina Denaro’s predilection for Francis Ford Coppola’s trilogy. A reproduction of one of the most famous paintings by the Sicilian painter Renato Guttuso was also hung on the walls of the hideout, “La Vucciria”which depicts one of the best known popular markets in Palermo.
Among the cinematographic images found in the den is also the “Joker”, from the film of the same name directed by Todd Philipp and starring Joaquin Phoenix.
What interests the investigators, however, are above all the documents found, such as the precious one agenda with names and statement of income and expenses annotated by Messina Denaro. All data that could be useful for reconstructing the dense network of relationships and contacts with the “mafia bourgeoisie” that allowed the boss to be on the run for 30 months.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues to locate other hideouts. The investigators discovered that, in the village, the boss presented himself with other names, and not with that of Andrea Bonafede, the surveyor who lent him his identity to benefit from medical treatment.
